♪♫ Wash Hands ♪♫ My Work Here is Done!

My Bug woke up sick this morning!  She got up at about 9:30 am and didn’t say much (if you know my Bug, you know this is NOT a good thing).  She laid there without a word other than “good morning Mommy” for 15 minutes.  No hug, no kiss, no “I had a dream” story…nothing.  No,  this is not right!

I said “Bug, do you want something to eat?”.  She replied “No thank you”.  No this is NOT good, not normal!  “Bug, you want something to drink?”.  “No thank you”.  OK, something is incredibly wrong!

I walked up to the princess who was laying listlessly in front of the TV and gave her a kiss and hug (which is usually the first thing she does to me upon waking, but did NOT).  She was hot, very hot.  I dug out the thermometer.  It read 102.8.  I was not a happy mommy and she did NOT look like a happy little bug.

Tylenol, I have Tylenol.  Let’s pump that in and then we’ll figure out what’s going on!  She does not like medicine.  She’s a healthy baby which is awesome!  Today she was not “healthy” so I had to force the Tylenol.  It brought the fever down!  Good job!

Five hours later, it went back up!  She had not been herself all day.  Not pleased (neither one of us).  It was a constant “stay out of every one’s face baby, don’t touch that baby, don’t put that in your mouth baby” kind of day!  I think she got too much sun yesterday.  She says she feels fine, but she is not acting fine.  In the morning, we will reassess the situation and decide what we need to do.

In the meantime, my baby taught me a lesson.  I’m not such a bad mom after all!

Have I mentioned I’m OCD?  Have I mentioned I’m a neat freak?  Have I mentioned germs are my enemy?  OK, yes I probably have like 851 (but who’s counting?) times or so.

So tonight, my baby girl, who should be resting, walks into her bathroom to wash her hands.  Then she comes out and announces that she’s germ free and it’s all good.  As you know, I encourage singing in my house to accomplish chores.  Who wouldn’t?  So I sang “♪♫Wash Hands, Wash Hands♫♪”.  And she said, “No momma, that’s not right!”.

“You have to sing ♪♫ Wash hands, wash hands quick as you can…wash hands, wash hands best as you can ♫♪”.  This was repeated 3 times and then she announced “now I’m germ-free and will not be sick anymore, and neither will anyone else!”.

My only reply?  What else could I say?  “That’s fabulous Bug!  I think you’re on to something and thanks for the new hand washing song, couldn’t have sang it better myself!”.

My princess is sleeping now.  She still has a fever.  I’m still sad!  BUT she’s learned something and hopefully this will help her when she goes to school this fall!  Germs are a bad thing!  Germs are nasty!  Germs are our enemies!  If we all learned to sing them away, maybe we could rid the world of germs all together!

My Bug rocks!  Fingers and toes crossed everybody…hope she feels better in the morning!  Hope she washed the germs away and no on else gets sick!  ♪♫WASH HANDS♫♪!
