Galveston Club Paradise: Let Your Inner Pirate Emerge

“I honestly think the beach is the only place children actually entertain themselves.” -Donna McLavy
That’s true for my own children anyway, and for myself. When we were in The Woods, we didn’t do much of anything. We settled in to a schedule that wasn’t really fun at all. We did not entertain ourselves and we weren’t very entertaining to each other. There was a lot of TV time for the rest of the family and just computer time for me. We had gotten so incredibly boring and thinking back on it now, it’s no wonder we hit such a major bump in our life’s journey.
But the minute we got back on the island, back to the ocean and the beach, things changed. The laughing, playing, and the “let’s get out of this house” philosophy began to take over. Bubby didn’t even need his pirate costume to play anymore. He saw the ocean and he suddenly felt his pirate spirit emerge again.
I’ll be honest with you, I’m not certain if this photo was of him showing off his pretend eye patch or if it was the moment he got his telescope out to search out enemy pirate ships. But that doesn’t really matter. Both moments made me laugh and I was happy to see my baby using his imagination and just entertaining himself, and me, again.

  1. The beach is such a happy place for me. As a child and now as an adult. I like to think all my stresses and worries wash away with the tide 🙂 My boys love it too. They completely change when we visit the coast. Everyone just lets go and relaxes!

  2. Go Bubby Pirate! I love it!!

It’s just so powerful, you can help but be influenced by it in a positive way.

  4. I’m not looking forward to the future cold seasons for this same reason! How are we supposed to be creative like this when we are holed up in the house for month(ssss)? Blah! I need to move. 🙂
