My car is really, really cute and right where it belongs.
The island isn’t necessarily pretty this time of year. Nay…February is not a pretty month for sure. We have fog, seaweed, really HIGH winds, and grey skies more often than not. But still, I’m obsessed with the waves and drawn to the ocean.
The other night, I sat at one of the little beach accesses by Woody’s (more on Woody’s later) and simply watched the waves and admired the shells. It’s what I do when I need to relax, unwind, and regroup. The waves were amazing of course. Winds tend to cause the most beautiful waves, especially this time of the year.
But as I walked back to my car, I just couldn’t help but notice how cute it is really. It’s a Barbie–mobile. And it belongs here. Remember playing Barbies as a child? They were all in bathing suits ALL. THE. TIME. And they had convertibles and beach buggies. Yea, me too. And even as a child, I longed for this life and I lived vicariously through my Barbies.
And the other night, I realized I’m living my Barbie dream. I can overlook the seaweed. I can overlook the fog (well…that one‘s a little more difficult since sometimes you can barely see through it). The winds haven’t blown me over…yet…but they’ve come close. February will be over with soon. The sun will shine. The seaweed will minimize. The fog will dissipate.
And I’ll have my Barbie-mobile while I’m living in my beach condo enjoying my view of the ocean. These are the things that dreams are made of. I’ll take whatever February has to dish out. Life is good!
