Hi! My Name is Christy and I’m Addicted to Elf! Top 10!

Funniest.movie.EVER! If you follow along on any of my social media channels (especially Facebook) or know me personally, you know that I am addicted to the movie Elf. I mean, I don’t just laugh like most of you do, I have tears rolling down my face for the majority of the movie and I watch it a minimum of 100 times during the month of December every year. It just never gets old. I own it so I can watch it on the nights and/or days it isn’t on TV. I’m a junkie!
I quote this movie often, on FB and in real life conversation, year round actually. And come the holiday season, people tag me in their own posts on FB and share photos (like the one above) on my FB page. I even named my new Yorkie pup Buddy in honor of this work of literary excellence. I like that people around the country actually think of me often when they watch this movie. That makes me giggle too. And I feel all warm and elfy inside.
So without further ado, I’d like to share my top 10 favorite quotes from this literary masterpiece. Seriously, this is good screenplay people! I have way more than 10 but I wanted to encourage y’all to play along at the end.
#10: This place reminds me of Santa’s Workshop! Except it smells like mushrooms and everyone looks like they want to hurt me.” (I feel like this quite often at Walmart actually.)
#9: No tomatoes. Too vulnerable. Kids, they’re already vulnerable.” (True that!)
#8: “You sit on a throne of lies!(So many people should be told this on a daily basis.)
#7: “I just like to smile, smiling is my favorite.
#6: “Watch out, the yellow ones don’t stop!”
#5: “First we’ll make snow angels for two hours, then we’ll go ice skating, then we’ll eat a whole roll of Tollhouse Cookiedough as fast as we can, and then we’ll snuggle.
#4: “I’m a cotton-headed ninny-muggins.
#3: “Does somebody need a hug?
#2: Hey, jackweed, I get more action in a week than you’ve had in your entire life. I’ve got houses in L.A., Paris and Vail. In each one, a 70 inch plasma screen. So I suggest you wipe that stupid smile off your face before I come over there and SMACK it off! You feeling strong, my friend? Call me elf one more time.”
That last one is of course the perfect segway in to my all-time favorite quote from the movie. This is the one that I use most throughout the year. Drum roll please. My #1 favorite quote from this literary giant is…..
#1 “He’s an angry elf! He must be from the South Pole!”
And there you have it. My top 10. For the record, I’m laughing through tears on my end. Your turn. Please share your favorite quotes from the movie. Each and every one of them makes me laugh!

Relaxing Family Together Time with Lipton Tea & Honey

It’s been a really busy year around my house. B and I are both working long hours, the girls are in school, and it’s just been hectic. There hasn’t been much family together time lately and that’s just not healthy. So this week, I decided to make a special day, just for the family, watching football and movies.
My plan was to keep things simple but to make them feel special since I haven’t been doing enough of that as of late. They are the most important thing in my life and I should be showing them more often.
Now y’all know I’m not fancy by any means and I like things quick and easy. I could have spent hours in the kitchen whipping up some fabulous meal and concocting some stupendous beverage from scratch, but that wouldn’t have left much together time at all. So I did what any good wife and mother with limited time would do…I cheated! What? It was all for the sake of family.
I threw together some Queso Dip and chips, and cut up some sausage and cheese because these snack plates are some of my family’s favorite food pairings. They look fancy (for me anyway) and I can slip in some dairy, veggies, and fiber without being detected. Pretty clever huh?
While I was preparing the snack trays, I had my little homemade cheat treat “brewing” in the hot Texas sun. I found the new Lipton Tea & Honey Pitcher Packets at Walmart earlier in the week. When I realized that Lipton Tea & Honey was made with real tea, had only 5 calories and 1 carb per serving, I had an idea that would be sure to make my family smile. We’re from Georgia where Sun Tea can be found on porch railings every where you turn. But that takes time and patience, neither of which I have readily available.
So I grabbed a pitcher, a Lipton Tea & Honey pitcher packet, Lemon Iced Black Tea, mixed in the water, tossed in fresh lemon slices, and simply let it sit out in the sun for about an hour to bring out the flavor of the lemon. No fuss at all and the tea was wonderful! All of the health benefits of “real” tea, and low in calories, carbs, and sugars.
The only thing left to do was sit down, relax, and enjoy time with the family. There were smiles, laughter, and LOTS of football. Mostly, it was just good to have everyone in one room all at the same time.
Good eats, great drinks, and the easiest family entertaining I’ve done in a long time. Try Lipton Tea & Honey at your next gathering with family or friends. These are great to keep on hand for the holidays and just as great for every day family meals. The pitcher packets are available in Lemon Iced Black Tea, Mango Pineapple Iced Green Tea, Blackberry Pomegranate Iced Green Tea, and Peach Apricot Iced Black Tea. And if you are just looking for a single serving, these flavors and more are available in To Go tea sticks as well.
To read more about the health benefits of tea, and to find out more about the fabulous products Lipton has to offer, be sure to like Lipton on Facebook and follow Lipton on Twitter
What are your family’s favorite together time snacks? I’m sure they would pair well with at least one of the Lipton Tea & Honey flavors available. Be sure to stock up for the holidays and check one of those worries off your list!

Hickory Farms and Family Holiday Traditions for Me and You!

This time of year always sneaks up on me. I’m never quite ready for the holidays, or football season, both of which are huge in my household. I like to make things special to make my family feel loved and show them how important they are to me. I have fond memories of my own childhood and family traditions, and I want my children to have the same.
My family was never in to sports so that kind of thing wasn’t an issue. But I do remember my Mom always having Hickory Farms Sausage on plates with cheese and crackers for all of us to enjoy at both Thanksgiving and Christmas before the meal was ready. It was something we looked forward to every year. In fact Hickory Farms gift packages have been a classic holiday tradition that brings family and friends together for more than 60 years. It was high time I brought this tradition in to my own home!
Football season is my indicator that the holidays are upon us. And I promise you, if the Dallas Cowboys are playing, they’re on my TV and my boys are glued! So this past Sunday, I decided to set up a spread and join in this tradition of theirs ours.
The holidays got an early start in our house and the tradition began.
B and Bubby enjoyed some bonding time, some football, and a fabulous snack and it was a good evening!
B always tells Bubby to keep his eye on the ball, but I think he only had eyes for the cheese and crackers!
We’ll be doing this for a lot more of the games and over the holidays and you should too! It’s important to have family traditions, especially at the holidays. Your children will cherish those memories for years to come. Family traditions are so underrated in this hustle and bustle world of ours. Many Americans have a distinct memory of Hickory Farms at their holiday gatherings from childhood. Let’s bring that nostalgic feeling back this holiday season that Hickory Farms is so proud to be a part of and continues to focus on and celebrate its long standing heritage of tradition and authentic holiday memories. These are the types of memories I want my children to have when they are grown!
The gift pack we received for this family together time was awesome. It came in a handy tool bag that B can use on the job. You can get the Taste of the Trade Toolbag, and many other fabulous gift items or packages for your holiday gatherings, by shopping online at Hickory Farms as well as in their 700+ stores and kiosks across North America.
