Ditch Your Wallet and Pay with Your Phone

I don’t know about you, but I have way too many store loyalty cards, debit cards, and credit cards to keep up with these days. I don’t carry a wallet because I like litty bitty purses so I just shove all of those cards, in no particular order, into the front pocket of my itty bitty purse and I’m constantly stuck fumbling through my many cards at the checkout line much to the dismay of my OCD tendencies. It’s not a pretty sight. Me fumbling, frustrated, while the babies beg for candy and everyone waits in line, impatiently, behind me. There has to be a better solution. And guess what? There is! All of this can be avoided with the help of Verizon’s new free Softcard app and now we can all pay with our phones at participating stores. As a bonus, all of those store loyalty cards can be loaded in this one little app so we never have to worry about fumbling for them again at checkout and there’s some mega savings associated with the app too. So how does it work?

Verizon Softcard App

Simply go to the Google Play Store if you have an Android phone, or the App Store if you have an iPhone (note: the app works with the iPhone 4, 4S, 5, 5S and you need a special case) and download the free app.

Then, there’s a little bit of set up involved because nothing awesome is super easy. But this is a pretty easy set up. There are some cards you can add with a touch of a button like American Express, Chase, and Wells Fargo. Don’t see your card? Don’t fret. You can sign up for an American Express Serve® Account that you can add money to from your preferred debit card, credit card, or U.S. bank account. Then you can add all of those store loyalty and rewards cards so you can get savings and loyalty points without having to carry around a bunch of cards and coupons. Pretty amazing, right?

But I know what you’re thinking. How secure can this all be? Like seriously, everything, all of my personal financial information, is right here in my phone. Sounds a bit risky, but it’s not. Verizon took care of that with state-of-the-art technology and layers of security to protect your information. It’s pin based so as long as you don’t leak your pin, no one else can get in. Plus the app has Remote Wallet Lock so if your phone is ever lost or stolen, you can freeze your entire Mobile Wallet with one phone call or web entry. That’s certainly easier and quicker than calling the issuing bank from every card you currently have in your wallet.

Once everything’s loaded, it’s simple to use. You can pay with Softcard anywhere contactless payments are accepted, and that’s at over 200,000 locations nationwide. Just pay with the tap of your phone and save with special offers. And some of these special offers are amazing, but you’ll need to act quickly so you can utilize them during your holiday shopping:

  • Spend $40 and Get $20: Verizon customers with an American Express Serve Account on Softcard from Verizon can get a $20 credit after they spend $40 or more on one purchase with their Serve Account through 9/30/14. Terms apply.

Yes, I know it’s UGLY, but I’m Under Construction!

I guess I need to address this hot mess that was once Insanity is NOT an Option. Right now, it kind of is an option. I might be ready for one of those cute white jackets that’s designed to make you hug yourself before this is all over. For real. I need a hug.

You see, I’m switching from Blogger to WordPress. For those of you that don’t understand that, it’s OK. I’m just here to tell you that I realize this place is a MESS (and I’m totally not a fan of messes). For those of you that do understand, HOLD ME!

It took awhile to move me and I actually vanished for some time. There was a code missing. It was a pretty important code too. But with the help of some friends, we got through that (and I wasn’t hospitalized). But now, I’ve got THIS. This black, not very sparkly, complete ugly mess.

It’ll be fixed soon and I’ll be sparkling again in no time. This is temporary (keep telling yourself that Christy) and my designer has my back. She just spent more time porting than anticipated so she had to put me on the back burner for a bit with the design work. It’s a process. I need to be patient, but I’m not.

So yea, hold me, please and thank you and be sure to stop back by. I’m just under construction. I haven’t lost my mind…YET!

Make More Moments with the Dell Venue 8 Pro Tablet with Intel Inside

You should probably know, I am a member of the Collective Bias® Social Fabric® Community. This shop has been compensated as part of a social shopper insights study for Collective Bias and its client. But as always, all opinions, ideas, and photos are entirely my own.
A new tablet has been on my wish list for awhile now. As a work at home mom, I’m tied down to my computer. And although I have a laptop, I just sit here, always, because I don’t feel like lugging the laptop around. My Android phone keeps me connected while I’m on the go but let’s face it, I’m not getting any younger and the screen is too small to really see all of the things I need to see. Plus my battery can’t handle all of the abuse. I definitely wanted a Windows 8 Tablet because that’s my platform of choice. But I really didn’t have a clue where to begin. As you might have gathered, I’m not overly tech savvy. I love gadgets of course but finding the right one is a chore for me.
I turned to a name that I trust and have used for years. No, of course I didn’t head to a store. That would mean admitting that I’m not all that bright when it comes to electronic purchases. I’m not about to do that. Dell.com had all of the information I needed and their Tech Dudes on chat are amazing. They helped me find just what I was looking for without very much effort at all on my part! He asked the questions. I gave him the answers. You see, I know what I want, I just don’t always know how to get there on my own so we ran down the list.
I need my email at my fingertips, and my calendar too. They are both tied to my Gmail account and I love the notifications I get on my laptop. I want that on my tablet too. Yes, I get them on my Android phone, but I need something bigger than that but portable enough to carry with me when we hit the playground, when I head to school to drop off or pick up my daughter, or when we’re at appointments or running errands. And I want the Windows 8 platform because I’ve grown accustomed to it on my new laptop.
It had to have Intel inside. Every other gadget I own has Intel inside and although I don’t understand the technical side of Intel, I know it helps me move at the speed of light and feel Intel-ligent. So that’s a must!
My new tablet would be something that I could use in the kitchen. I often Google recipes when I’m in a pinch. I stay busy and often forget to take out anything for dinner so I find myself digging in the freezer for something I can cook without thawing. But I hate serving boring dinners so I search how to spruce up a frozen product and I find myself writing down the recipe and carrying it to the kitchen with me. There has to be a better way!
And this little spot on the internet of mine takes a lot of work. What if I’m out and have an amazing idea for a post? The keyboard on my phone isn’t all that friendly. I need something that will allow me to take pictures and post to my blog while I’m away. I’ve got deadlines to meet but I would still love to spend more time with my family out and about. I need to make more moments with my family.
This photo was actually taken on my new Dell Venue 8 Pro Tablet. The quality is so much better than my phone!
Because at the end of the day, the moments I spend with my family, really enjoying them, are the moments I’ll cherish for a lifetime. I need for this tablet to have a camera worthy of capturing these moments. And I want that camera to not only allow the selfie moments (like a lot of tablets) but to also let me capture the moments as I see them. Yes, front and back camera shots are definitely important.
I wanted all of the apps I have available on my computer and on my phone. I wanted a battery that could withstand my excessive use. I wanted something that wasn’t too heavy. I wanted a tablet that was an easy set up for this tech dummy. I wanted my tablet to suit MY needs. I wanted a lot. I wanted a “supertool”. He knew what I wanted apparently and suggested the Dell Venue 8 (not too big, not too small) Pro Tablet.

So what’s inside this “supertool” other than Intel? What’s NOT inside this tablet? You get:
  • Great battery life.
  • Fast and responsive internet searches and app downloads.
  • Rich media experiences with front and rear cameras and video tools.
  • So many apps available you can’t even imagine!
  • Only Windows 8 tablets like this one with Intel inside give you an uncompromised experience with the ability to let you seamlessly download new and existing Windows software and apps.
  • Intel Atom processors are optimized for a super speed app experience, responsive web browsing, stunning 3D graphics, advanced camera capabilities, and vivid HD video with energy efficiency for outstanding battery life.
By gadget, I think he had me pegged!
Purchasing on the Dell site is so easy. Just select your preference and go through the steps. It even tells you the estimated shipping date before you order. Everything is clear, understandable, and it’s easy to navigate. Plus, if you’re a tech dummy like me, you don’t even have to do the research. They know what you want even if you don’t! I’m surfing away, checking my email, getting notifications on due dates, snapping pictures, and capturing memories and making more “moments” in my life thanks to my new Dell Venue 8 Pro Tablet. Who knew life could be this simple on the go? This would be the perfect Christmas gift for anyone that needs to stay connected while on the go this year.

If you’re looking for an easy to use (seriously, set up was a snap…just sign up with your email account and all of your computer information just flows over on to your tablet), extended battery, light-weight (like as in .87 pounds), super tool, this is the tablet for you. If you aren’t completely convinced that having a tablet can help you create moments you’ve been missing yet, check out this video and I’m sure you will be! Then be sure to follow Dell along on Facebook and Twitter to find out more about all of the latest and greatest gadgets, and which one is right for you, before you finish up that holiday shopping!
