How do you like your salsa? I like mine HOT. I mean really, really hot. And I like it to taste fresh. Now this is going to sound strange since I live in Texas, but they just don’t make spicy salsa around here. I’m more a fan of Tex-Mex food than I am traditional Mexican foods. Again with the irony, we got better Tex-Mex in Georgia than we’ve ever had here in Texas. The food served in these parts is more “authentic” and it’s just not as spicy. So what’s a girl to do? Make her own salsa of course!
I’ve finally figured out the perfect combination of fresh ingredients. This deliciously hot salsa takes mere minutes to make with the help of my Ninja Ultimate Pro Blender.
What you’ll need:
- 3 medium ripe tomatoes
- 1 clove fresh garlic
- 1/4 cup green onions (just the white part)
- 1 juice of lime
- 1/4 cup fresh cilantro
- 1/2 cup sliced jalapenos
- 1 tbsp red pepper flakes
What you’ll do:
- Cut the tomatoes in quarters
- Place all ingredients in your blender or food processor
- Blend to consistency desired
That’s it! Serve this along side your favorite tortilla chips (corn chips have a lot less sodium by the way), pour it on a delicious taco salad, slather your burritos in it. It’s really that good. Oh but wait, I should point out that you might want to have some water (or beer) standing by. It’s nice and spicy, but oh-so-good! Honestly, we’d rather eat our Mexican fiestas at home. Way better than restaurant meals, a lot more affordable, way less sodium, and completely spicy and delicious!

My boys’ motto is “the spicier the better” so they would LOVE this recipe!

I totally agree with your boys. This is one of my favorites because 1) It’s spicy, and 2) I’m a fan of easy things that enhance meals.
