The Wahl Heated Therapeutic Massager offers 2 heat settings, variable power, a soft zipper storage case, and 9 (that’s right…9) attachments to customize your massage experience. The attachments include: a 3-point to cover large areas, a heated one to sooth stiff muscles, a facial massager, a muscle kneader, a scalp massager, a knuckle and joint attachment, a deep muscle massager to dig deep into those tight knots, a pin-point massager for those targeted areas, and a general all-over body massager. They seriously left NOTHING out of this and that deep muscle massager actually got rid of a very tight muscle I’ve been dealing with for the past 2 weeks.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I live in this little black box of mine an awful lot! Every morning I wake up, hustle the girls to school, fix Bubby some breakfast, and open up my world online, ready to work. My daily mantra greets me and I do try to stay calm and sparkle but it’s just not always possible. Sometimes I get frustrated.
You see, my job requires me to check links all day, every day. Links can contain really icky things, and those icky things often invade my computer. And it gets slow…really slow! I have a lot of free antivirus software loaded, but it just doesn’t block everything. I can usually clean it up with the free stuff, but it sure would be nice if it was prevented in the first place.
Quite honestly, my biggest problem seems to be with Punch Tab that likes to automatically, without permission, load the Babylon toolbar and files in to little corners on the inside of my little black box. What is Punch Tab you ask? It’s a pop up that some bloggers use to make about a 5th of a penny for each click they receive. It’s annoying but it’s a part of my job. Must block the Babylon Beast because it is affecting my life.
About a week ago, B posted the above picture on Facebook with the caption “Never stops working!”. It made me sad when I realized that although it does seem true to them, and I’m not spending enough time with my family, it’s not entirely true. I do sit here pretty much from dawn to dusk but I’m not always working. Often, I’m waiting.
I’m quite honestly often looking at a screen that looks like this! Redirecting, or Google still working, or searching for results. And worse than that, I’ll attempt to type and finish a whole paragraph and wait for 5 minutes for my computer to catch up. This is not productive, it is not a good use of my time, and it is NOT sparkly!
So I decided it was time to invest some of my hard-earned money into something that would free up some of my time and speed up my work. It was time to pay for some computer security to save this little black box of mine, and my sanity. True to form, I Googled it before heading to the store.
First glance tells me that Kaspersky and McAfee have top rated software. I did a further search asking which computer security software does the best job at blocking Babylon and both of these names were at the top of the list. I asked for recommendations from my blogging friends and the majority sent me to Kaspersky. So with knowledge in hand, the babies and I headed to Walmart. I could have ordered online but I’m not patient and I like to touch things and read labels. I‘m an in-store shopper and Walmart is most convenient for me so I can pick up other items I need while I’m there.
After a long time (way too long for the babies I might add) at the store comparing products and trying to find the latest versions of the software, I decided to go with Kaspersky Internet Security 2012 even though it was so last year (OK it is this year but there is a newer version and I wanted it). It got great online reviews, more importantly friend reviews, and I had read that it would block the Babylon Beast. I was sold!
The babies and I headed home, with McDonald’s to reward them for their patience (not) at the store and I started downloading. I was going to be productive, Babylon free, and fabulous!
Let me admit right now, the download was excruciating. It took forever actually but probably because my computer was already so slow.
But I sure did get a warm and sparkly feeling when I saw that my computer was protected!
And much to my surprise, after a Critical System Scan (which found nothing), and a Full Scan, Kaspersky found that my computer had 3 instances of the Trojan virus! That’s right, little soldiers from various sites had loaded in to 3 separate virtual wooden horses and had attacked my little black box. Bad soldiers! Naughty wooden horses! Kaspersky to the rescue!
Now let’s be totally honest here, I am not an I.T. person and I’m not a tech Guru by any means so I have no idea if I chose the best security software on the market but I do know that my computer has been quick like a bunny for the past two days and I’ve been super productive. I’ve been surfing and sparkling without issue and I’m very pleased. Once I get caught back up, I’m sure my family will be pleased too!
I never want to see B post anything like that on his Facebook wall again. It just made me sad because I’m not always working, and I’m tired of waiting!
Tonight, I’m happily sitting in my little corner of the world, in front of my little black box, catching up, and I’m calm while the family plays in the background. Life is good and I’ll never go the “free” route again! This software was worth every dime!
Always remember…Keep Calm and Sparkle! There is no other way!

As I shared with you a little over a week ago, Bubby has been having his “can’t walk” spells again and after a trip to a fabulous new doctor and the hospital for full blood work and urinalysis, we still don’t have answers. I have received daily emails, texts, and phone calls from friends and family since I shared our story and I appreciate each and every one of you that has contacted me to show your love and support!
The update isn’t anything miraculous. The blood work and urinalysis all came back clean which in itself is awesome news and we are incredibly relieved. The only problem is, he’s still limping, almost 2 weeks later. It gets better some days, and worsens to almost not walking at all again on others. As his mother, this is unbearable to watch. But, hope of all hope, Dr. McClue (ha, that’s what my friend Jody calls him and I love it) still recognizes that there is a problem and it won’t just go away because these are NOT growing pains.
Our strong family history of kidney issues (my Dad only has one left and my oldest daughter had severe kidney reflux as a young child that took medication, constant specialist visits, and many years to fix), we are still leaning toward that despite the results of the urinalysis. Those tests would not show a blockage or defect. But rather than subject my poor baby to more and more tests right away, Dr. McClue has me keeping a daily journal for a month before returning for more testing. We’re looking for proof and trigger points and it has been eye-opening.
His pee has always stunk seriously bad, he’s never been regular, and he’s been impossible to potty train because he just doesn’t seem to know when he has to “go”. I’ve always told B about his occasional ginormous urination but I just never put 2 and 2 together.
He’s been limping all week, quite heavily in fact since Monday again. I had been journaling everything. Then on Thursday, it was so painfully obvious. He woke up and couldn’t even walk his sister to school with me. He just couldn’t even stand up that long so we took the stroller. I checked his Pull Up before we left and it was completely dry. At 11:15 am, I changed a soiled Pull Up (I am so over changing poopie diapers after 23 years…UGH) but it was still completely dry despite the fact that he had already had 2 cups of drink. Then at 11:45 am, he came running (yes running) to me and excitedly said, “I peed Mommy, I peed!”. He had in fact peed, so much so that his shorts were drenched and there was a puddle on the floor. After we cleaned up, I immediately noticed a change in him. He was still limping but he was running and playing and laughing, and he told me his leg didn’t hurt anymore!
So yes, signs say kidney. And I’m journaling and watching very closely and we check in weekly with Dr. McClue. Bubby is well this weekend, and he’s happy, which makes me happy. And we’re moving closer to answers. The tests will probably be moved up now because of this second “spell” but some of these tests are painful, especially for little boys, so I’m thankful the doctor is narrowing down before proceeding.
I’ll keep y’all posted and I just can’t express enough how moved I am by all of you that have shown such care, concern, and support. It means a lot. Keep sending sparkles and we’ll recycle them and share. Life is good when you have the love and support of your family and friends. Our life is amazingly good!
I’ve got tales of woe and a big announcement for you today! You know the Wahl name and you know it’s a brand you can trust. But did you know that they had a fabulously incredible Deluxe Heat Therapy Massager? Well, they do and let me tell you right here and now…it’s THE BOMB!
We were lucky enough to try this beauty out and that kink in my back for the past 2 weeks is very thankful! You see, being a Mom isn’t an easy job. You work hard “just being a mom”. You other moms already know this! Tote the babies, tote the groceries, tote the laundry, tote the toys from one room to the other…it’s always something. We do laundry, we cook, we clean, and we put in incredibly long hours. All of this adds up to stress and massive tension both in our minds and on our bodies. It’s not an easy job, but someone has to do it! Might as well be me and you, right? RIGHT!
With all of that toting, buggy pushing, dishwasher emptying, stove cleaning, cooking, vacuuming, dusting, and so many other chores, comes pain. Oh the aches and pains, even headaches. But what’s a mom to do?
In the past, for me at least, it was “take another Goody Powder, move on, and get the job done Christy”. But today I found an alternative that brings hope for a little (non medicated) relief!
And it all tucks away neatly in this little bag for storage!
It’s so easy to use that (with supervision of course) my Bug was able to give me a massage and she was so incredibly proud of herself. Her smile makes me happy so this made me happy in more than one way!
But here’s the REALLY cool part! You too can be pain free this Mother’s Day! That’s right! Wahl is giving 50 therapeutic massagers away to 50 really hard working Moms (just like YOU). From April 26-May 13, they’re conducting a contest. Entry is simple! Just share a story that conveys your appreciation for a “mom” in your life and why she deserves some relief. Entries will be judged on their uniqueness and sincerity. Make sure to submit your entry by May 3rd on their Facebook Page so that the special “mom” you are nominating will be considered for the prize.
Good luck! I hope you win. You definitely deserve some pampering for all of your hard work. And Happy Mother’s Day! I hope it’s filled with family, love, and happiness (and if you’re really lucky, one of these fabulous massagers)!
